The 33rd edition of the Cinema Ritrovato Film Festival in Bologna, Italy was indeed extraordinary. Acting as a time machine, the festival explored the best world cinema, from the end of the 1800s to the start of the twenty-first century. Each screening was an opportunity to discover never-before-seen works and rediscover those we’ve loved forever, with screenings of the best copies, newly restored, and with ideal projection conditions.
In addition, I had the outstanding opportunity to attend to two master classes, one with legendary director Francis Ford Coppola (watch Coppola Master Class here) and another with the extraordinary director Jane Campion (watch Campion Master Class here). Thank you to Cineteca di Bologna for this invaluable gift.
