Panama’s Rising Stars: A New Wave of Screenwriters Emerges

Updated: Feb 16

After 20 weeks of intense work, I am overjoyed to announce the conclusion of my role as a mentor in Panama City's prestigious Screenwriting Mentorship Program. This groundbreaking initiative, led by Minister of Culture Giselle González Villarué and supported by Sheila González, National Director of Panama's Film Commission (DICINE), has had a profound impact on the country's film industry.

Working alongside the exceptional Sandy Siquier, film professor from Syracuse University, we had the pleasure of guiding aspiring screenwriters through every stage of development. From pitching their ideas to crafting their first drafts, we witnessed the remarkable growth and creativity of these new writers.

The results were truly extraordinary. Three captivating feature film projects emerged from this program, showcasing national themes from a global perspective. These screenplays have the potential to catch the attention of both domestic and international producers, further enhancing Panama's position in the filmmaking world.

This program's success is not just a personal triumph but also a significant advancement for Panamanian cinema as a whole. Congratulations to all the participants who made this journey possible!
